Writing programme
Launched in 2017, Hong Kong Visual Art Criticism Incubation Programme (previously titled “Hong Kong Visual Art Critic Nurturing Programme”) is an ongoing initiative to discover and nurture young local visual art critics, and to promote sustained development of writings and documentation on the Hong Kong art ecology. Annually, the programme provides opportunities for passionate art writers to be closely mentored by professional art critics and practitioners, through an extensive series of writing workshops, issue-based discussions, site visits and artist sharing. Over the 3 to 4 months, participants are guided to develop their own written reviews or essays, which would have the chance to be selected and published on the local media platforms, including Cobo Social and Free Walk-in. Coming to the fifth year, the project works on expanding its scope by hosting open calls and collaborating with various media partners, with the aim to continuously engage with our established young writer circle and encourage prolonged writing practices.
